We said goodbye to San Francisco and started our journey back to Portland right away to get James back home so he could go to class. Hitting up as many Starbucks as possible to stay awake, we drove the entire day.
Early this past December I had the pleasure of staying in Ottawa with a close friend to engage in a few amazing experiences. I also had the pleasure of crossing off a few items on my bucket list; I never imagined that I would have the luxury of meeting film producer Adam Scorgie, or Brian O’Dea, Canadian-international marijuana smuggler, anytime in my cannabis-activism career. I was truly thrilled that this was a part of my itinerary in Ottawa.
After hotel-hopping across Oregon and California, we finally made it to San Francisco a couple of nights later. Once arrived we made our way to Google Glass Basecamp. Unfortunately, we were visiting on the one day of the week that they’re closed. After figuring that out, we decided to drive on to California’s Great America amusement park to smoke joints, get really high, and ride some big, fast roller coasters.

Advocates and Advertisers
There are many conservative and religious areas of Canada where discussing sex is still taboo. To the people there, the word ‘marijuana’ reminds them of DARE assemblies in school. Many do not drink alcohol; some don’t even drink coffee. The combination of sex with pot just feeds right into the views of these non-consuming conservative voters, making legalization of the plant way more difficult. Conservative anti-drug ads are more appealing to conservative Jane and Joe Canada.
They’re Thinking of the Children
What if mainstream, non-users think that all female cannabis users sit around in bikinis and long socks, smoking bongs? It’s far-fetched but at one time, mainstream non-users saw propaganda like Reefer Madness and believed that.
I have always wanted a chance to write about cannabis, so the opportunity to write for Twelve High Chicks Magazine is a dream come true—thanks to my great friend, Mae Moon, creator and owner of Twelve High Chicks Magazine.

In the last decade I have visited Jamaica a half a dozen times. For my first trip, one of the big draws for me was being able to score weed fairly easily, at least that’s what I thought. But after I arrived I discovered that’s not quite the whole story.
**Pot does NOT replace SSRIs for any mental health condition. If you have an untreated mental health condition, please, please, please speak to a doctor about all of your options.**
I have had joint pain and arthritis for a long time. I also have a hormone disorder and a mental health condition to manage. After years of trying to manage on my own, I sought medical help. Unfortunately, while I was prescribed Paxil as well as other medications, they don’t treat the pain or discomfort that PMDD and arthritis cause.
Sometimes I sit in reverie
and think ‘bout things—
to do and see
and buy and try and master soon—

Children are very curious creatures, aren’t they? Always full of wonder and awe about the world around them, mischievously figuring out how things work, and asking a thousand questions about anything and everything.
One of the tricky parts for parents can be deciding if, when, and how to talk to your children about taboo subjects such as marijuana use. I wish I had a simple answer but there really is no cut and dry; all children and situations are different. But hopefully my experiences are helpful.
