While we here at Twelve High Chicks try to keep current events that don’t directly involve the cannabis freedom movement out of our articles, sometimes the world can’t be ignored. What happened in Charlottesville, VA this past weekend is one of those times. And the best way I can express what I’m feeling is through cannabis, with puff’n’pass poetry.
It’s almost Canada Day, and that means it’s also Cannabis Day! Here’s some puff ‘n’ pass poetry for the occasion.
4/20 2017 was a unique day in Canada. Just a week after the federal Liberals revealed legislation for recreational marijuana, we should have only been celebrating. Instead, advocates and activists were also protesting the ridiculous restrictions this bill introduces. It treats marijuana as more dangerous than alcohol and tobacco, encourages a big-business oligarchy, and won’t protect kids or drive out organized crime.
There has been a lot going on in the world lately. Time for a break, time for puff and pass poetry — light up and let go for a moment.

Harper said weed’s a dangerous thing.
Well, Science says Harper is wrong.
Harper said weed’s a dangerous thing.
Aren’t we happy, Harper is gone!

Sometimes I sit in reverie,
and think ‘bout things
to do and see
and buy and try and master soon —
while smoking; staring at the moon.
Fight for your right to smoke what you need:
Our dabs and our hash and our just-flowers weed.
Undoing the damage done by prohibition,
Rescinding bad laws is the point of the mission.
Organising, paraphrasing
working, writing, and relaxing.
Socialising, laughing, thinking
finally eating, finally sleeping.
Sometimes I sit in reverie
and think ‘bout things—
to do and see
and buy and try and master soon—
while smoking; staring at the moon.
Pot is not
a miracle.
It can’t cure AIDs
or ALL the cancers.
But
nei’er can beer
if I recall,
yet with IDs
it’s bought at counters.
